These video clips are taken from a presentation given July 2007 at the KU-CRL’s Treasures of SIM conference in Lawrence, KS.


Segment 1: Don Deshler speaks about the past and present problems schools, districts and states have when dealing with identifying learning disabilities. Some of the solutions discussed later involve improving the Response to Intervention (RTI) model.

Segment 3: The Content Literacy Continuum (CLC) provides one approach to implementing RTI at the secondary school level. Barbara Ehren translates the five levels of CLC into the three tiers of RTI.

Segment 4: Don Deshler describes a climate of urgency in schools today that encourage rapid changes. The RTI model needs a time investment from schools in order to properly change a special education program for the better.
